Baine’s Camp is located in a private concession area adjacent to the Boro River, and nearby the famed Moremi Game Reserve. The concession is shared with only its sister camp, Stanley’s.
Baine’s Camp is spectacularly located and a wonderfully intimate camp in the Okavango wilderness. The highlight of a stay here is to do the Grey Matters elephant encounter, which surely ranks amongst the best animal encounter experiences in the world. Three orphaned elephants have been raised and used by their guardians to promote education through amazing intimate experiences where participants are able to touch the elephants ears, trunks and the bottom of their feet, etc., learn about their behaviors and sounds, and take a long walk through the bush holding their trunks and behaving as an elephant herd before having breakfast with them, basically an entire morning in their company. This is a breathtaking experience, one that truly allows for connections with on of the most intelligent and soulful species on the planet.
Baine’s is an intimate camp providing a relaxed feel with just five uniquely luxurious suites. The suites are actually constructed in the local manner, consisting of solid walls made of recycled drink cans and a plaster of elephant dung along with a thatched roof. While it might sound strange this is efficient construction that locals make their own homes of and in these suites the end result is spacious upscale accommodation. The highlight of the accommodation is that the bedrooms feature four-poster ‘star beds’ that can be rolled onto your raised private deck for an amazing sleep out under the stars and the big African night sky. An absolutely unique opportunity that you will never forget.
The central lodge area is built on raised wooden decking overlooking a lagoon providing a splendid connection to the wonder of the Okavango Delta. Hippos are regular visitors in the lagoon providing a wonderful cacophony of sounds and interesting viewing throughout the day. For mid day relaxing there is a small infinity pool are complete with comfortable sun loungers and two shady salas for fully chilling out. This camp has a stellar reputation for outstanding food, some of the best of any safari camp.
Because Baine’s Camp is within a private concession, both day and night game drives in open vehicles are offered, along with bush walking if requested. Water levels will be low at your time so boating activities are unlikely to be offered, but sometimes they can offer mokoro and motorboat trips.
