Stanley’s Camp
Region
Stanley’s Camp is an 8 tent classic canvas camp nestled in the Okavango Delta. It is also a wildlife rich area that has quality game drives and walks. However, the highlight of a stay here is to do the Grey Matters elephant encounter, which surely ranks amongst the best animal encounter experiences in the world.
Description
Three orphaned elephants have been raised and used by their guardians to promote education through amazing intimate experiences where participants are able to touch the elephants ears, trunks and the bottom of their feet, etc., learn about their behaviors and sounds, and take a long walk through the bush holding their trunks and behaving as an elephant herd. This is a breathtaking experience, one that truly allows for connections with one of the most intelligent and soulful species on the planet.
Stanley’s is a small luxury camp with classic styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The tents feature handcrafted beds dressed with the fine linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that transport you to early 19th century Africa. Each unit offers en-suite facilities, a private balcony and a ceiling fan. Hammocks and Morris chairs on the decks are perfect for relaxation in the African sunshine.
Stanley’s is located in a very scenic area with a good diversity of wildlife. Stanley’s Camp shares a private concession area with its sister Baines Camp, and thus can do off road and night game drives in open vehicles, along with bush walking if requested. When water levels are high (usually June-Sept) the camp can also offer mokoro (local dugout canoe poled like a gondola).
